John: Piston top is .010 ABOVE deck. Valve reliefs are both .115 deep. Old head gasket (compressed) fire ring is .055 thick. Hope this is what you need? Tom

Tom: Yes it does. Thanks. You need to get seats put in the head to get your valve protrusion up to specs. Makes a big difference on starting. Do you have the specs? specs were published after they quit building the engines.

Glad I could be of some help, as it is usually the other way round! I have what I think are the correct valve specs,(from search on this site) and have told machine shop that is doing my head to stick to the upper end of the tolerance as there is a big range. What do you suggest?

Intakes 14 to 29 above. Exhaust 26 to 41 above.
