I have a problem here.
I am rebuilding an over/under from a 1974 1855
I got a set of 5 and a set of 6 new clutch discs from the dealer. One set does not fit, the new discs have 42 teeth and they measure 0.0855 thick and are the correct specs as listed in my repair manual, the 6 old discs have 34 teeth and are 0.1045 thick and obviously are not the right thickness as per manual yet they were in the clutch. (The other set of 5 for the smaller clutch are the correct ones and the same as the old set)
The part numbers on the packages are the same ones as in my parts book.(My parts book came with the first 1855 i bought and is a 72)
Both old and new discs have the same OD and ID (All teeth are on the ID).
I wonder how many different over/unders were build?

When i ordered the parts i gave them the serial number of the tranny as well.

I am confused.

ofcourse the dealer is closed til monday so i can't ask them but maybe one of you can shed some light on this.

Yes, the direct clutch was changed. Early OUs had the 42.

from agcopartsbooks.com, the tractor serial number break is 230893.

I lest the dealership in early fall of 76. I know there was a bulletin issued before I left that covered those changes and the new replacement part numbers. Maybe if I find it I can scan it, J.

talked with bison last night ,he ordered those parts out of his original 1974 parts book , not a latter parts book 3 spd must be newer than his parts book ,

Or a previous owner of the tractor repaired that OU with the updated input shaft and direct clutch.

Thanks guys
I can tell that this O/U has been apart before as the clutch discs in question were not all matching in the design of the lining.
So it is quite possible parts have been swapped in from different O/U's from other years
The parts book i have and ordered from might be pre 1972 although the tractor it came with is supposed to be a 72 so that explains the earlier 42 teeth discs i got.
An other clue might be that the O/U housing i'm working on has an earlier/lower part number than the housing in the parts book IE: 165 055 A versus 165 169 A in the book and i gave the parts man that first number as well including the tractor's serial#

Live and learn.

I guess ordering from an 1969 parts book is not the right way to order parts for a in 74 build tractor.
I hope got the right clutch discs coming this time around.
Dealer says they should be here by wednesday.
