Have an oil leak on my 1850 gasser.

Have found a few different seals. The leak is coming
from the crank cover on front, under the governor
(spelling?).

What is the difference between these and is this
most likely the culprit?

There were 2 different seals used. Early tractors used the cork K-126 seal which had been used for years. Production was later changed to a lip type seal. This included a new front cover as well as a new front pulley. So first of all do you have a serial number for the engine and the tractor? Next if it is an early one you need to see if it has been converted to the new style so a casting number for the front pulley would be a good idea as well.

We have taken many of the old style covers and machined them out to fit the normal lip seal. We won't even mess with the cork seals anymore

Tractors number plate states serial number 158949.

I'll have to look for engine casting number and see if I can Spot a number on pulley.

Where would engine number be located?
