Super 55 Hydraulics

I bought a Super 55 with a front end loader. I removed the loader and plugged the ports where the hydraulic lines were connected to the external hydraulic valve. Now when I start the tractor it is under a load unless I move the hydraulic lever forward of backwards and the housing gets hot around the valve area. Also the 3 point lift doesn't work. Help !!

Well the tractor has been sitting for a couple of years and I just recently started it back up when I noticed this. I tried connecting the 2 ports with a short hose and when that didn't work I removed the external valve completely and attached a passage plate in its place that I saw in the service manual but it's still doing the same thing.

Well first of all did you notice there are 2 ports that you covered up with your plate? The oil has to flow through those 2 ports. That is why Jack suggested that you hook the 2 hoses together. You said the 3 point does not work. Are the arms up or down? If they are up they may be out of adjustment and or you could have internal linkage problems. You need to solve the problem quickly before you ruin the expensive little hydraulic pump. You also need to post the serial number of the tractor as there were major changes made in the hydraulic system from the first Super 55 to the last Super 55.

Thanks John, I can get the serial number when I get to the shop. It is the one with the oil filter mounted on the left side and not in the front. The 3 point it stuck rock solid in the up position. I did try to connect a hose to the two ports coming out of the external valve but the oil would only flow when I moved the hydraulic lever forward or backwards, in the middle position was the same problem. Thats when I removed the external valve and put on the correct passage plate to cover the two ports to allow the oil to circulate but it still did not so Im thinking there must me some internal blockage not allowing the oil to pass thru. Is it a big job to remove the whole top cover to see what is going on inside ? John maybe you can call me when you have time at 612-369-6984 Thanks, Brian
