Radiator Cap Question

1970-1655

While I was working around the 1650 today, I thought how old the radiator cap was. Maybe I should replace it before it fails due to old age. I started web searching and all I find is the generic looking cap, more like one for a car or truck. Does anyone make the cap with the round dome top on it like original, or would I need to drill the spot welds on the old one and weld it to the new cap? I want it to still look like the factory made it.

It is often only the washer which gives out. Maybe just replace that part?

Dead washers leak, weak springs result in lower system pressure. Both eventually mean coolant boils at a lower temperature. Higher pressure caps can, in unfortunate instances, lead to water finding its way across/past gasket seals to where you don't want it!

I bought a a perfect OEM match radiator cap from Korves last year. Don't remember the price. They have a website www.external_link.com that will give you some information and a phone number to call. Good people!
