over/under hydral shift

I like to downshift from over straight to under when in 6th gear just before turning into my driveway. This slows the tractor down nicely without any jerking. I think I understand how the over/under works and I don't believe anything can be hurt by doing this but I thought I would ask. Is this an OK procedure or should I refrain from doing this? My understanding is this isn't something a person should do with a T/A but the T/A and over/under are 2 different animals.

Yes when in road gear go from over strait to under so it free wheels, if you go to direct it will try and slow it down and is hard on the over under I've always been told. I've always went strait to under in the years I've ran them. Never had any problems with them

Yup keep doing what your doing you'll be fine, going to direct in road gear isn't good on it

Same here when downshifting. When up shifting a lot of time I use the clutch on the road.

Jake - I could be missing something, but if I do that with my 2-105, the tractor will freewheel. Ok if you're not expecting any engine braking. Scary if you are.

I also use the clutch when up shifting. I figure why shock the system when you don't have to. I also have a ford 6000 with SOS. I clutch between most shifts on that tractor also for the same reason.
