Krazzy question?

After posting up above I got to really thinking about putting a cab on my 1550 utility. I really like the tractor and its handy one to run for a lot of reasons. In winter sometime I move a lot of snow and a cab with heat would be nice. Thinking a cab with a front snow plow and a grader blade on the back would be real nice to have on this tractor. I think the cab would help with the weight issues it has and I could take the windows out in the summer to make it cooler.

So now the real question, Does anyone have or has seen a 1550 utility with a cab on it? And do you like it? Picture would be nice. Bandit

I would think there are a few 1650 cabs around at salvage yards if you want the factory look, not sure if Oliver made them for the 1550. Other than being a little wider they probably will fit with some modifications. Sure is nice to be dry inside when clearing snow and the wind picks up. Saw this 1755 utility with one:

With some work I have a cab off a 4020 it a Year Round that I can make fit. Its just I have never seen a 1550 utility with a cab or even heard of one, And as narrow as it is it might be a trick to put one on it as my finders are right up against the hydrolic levers as it is now. My tires are just under 6' wide outside to outside so its narrow. I would like to see a picture of one to give me some ideas on what it might look like or even if its feasible or not. Bandit

Oliver made cabs for the 1550 But all I can find is
for Row Crop and Wheatland The Sales Notes for the
1550 dosent show a cab for the utility as of 12-8-65

Do not know where your at but I know a place not far from me here in Missouri that the last time I was there they had 15 or so tractor cabs just sitting around on the ground

If Bandit doesn't want it, I might. I'm west of Rock Island, where are you? Is it an Oliver cab or aftermarket? Chris

I may have to take you up on that. I will have to look at the year round cab I have sitting and see if its any good or not, Been sitting there for 10 years so who knows. The more I think about a cab on the utility the more I like the idea. Bandit

Bandit, you've got me wanting a cab now! I checked at a couple salvage dealers and some equipment dealers. They are out there just have to find them. The one I like was made by Henson -- shown on the IH below and on the 1755 Utility above. I think one way to find a cab would be to go to Tractorhouse or Fastline and look for 94-100HP tractors for sale with the keyword 'cab' and you'll come up with a list. I did that and talked to one dealer who said he would definitely sell a cab separately.

FYI for you. Since the 1550 utility tractor is narrow, you may want to find one of those Oliver cabs that were designed so they could be used with the wheels set in for narrow rows.

I think that the gas tank filler on the latter ones was moved forward for room to put a cab on .so you might want to watch where the gas cap is
