Long story short- we are overhauling my 1963 880 gas and we found the input shaft to the tranny with the splines nearly stripped at tranny end. Ordered an aftermarket shaft, coupler, snap rings, seal and gasket.
After pulling the hydraulic reservoir and getting a good look, there is a gear on the shaft in the tranny and there is a plastic bushing between the gear and the shaft. The parts book shows it as a phenolic bushing. Tim Smith says they are no longer available.
Does any one know where you can get one? Or does any know the dimensions to machine one either of phenolic or brass/bronze( which is best?)? Anyone run into this before?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
