Oliver 70 timing cover question

Have been getting my Oliver 70 engine reassembled after rebuild. The phone I stored dis assembly photos on broke so I am unable to look back at the photos. Have a few questions that I will post some pictures with. Where does this indicator go? Also this cap off the timing cover looks like a dip stick or something was there. Any input on that? Hopefully get the distributor mounted on tomorrow. Kind of just mocking everything up just incase I miss something. Thanks guys

That indicator tab I dont recall. Does it potentially go near the crank pulley using one of the front cover bolts? The dipstick is where you add your oil near the governor. But from your picture it appears you dont have any male threads sticking out of that hole...

Thanks for the reply. I removed the threaded pipe in the picture. Also on the cap, I didn't know if I was missing the dip stick or of that's all that is supposed to be there. Yeah I figured the indicator belonged under the cover. I just couldn't see why or what it was there for. Thanks, Chris
 
On the filler cap , there used to be a leather washer on that to divert oil splash back into the engine....
 
I believe that is an oil director for the idler so that it gets lubed. It runs on splash oil located under the cover.
 
I waa hoping someone would say where the liittle splash plate goes, I was not abke to figure it out when I put my 70 together in 1976 one year after high school. It has run all these years without it and the little plate is long lost.
Neill with a 1941 Cockshutt 70 Standard. Been in the famil for about 58 years now.
 
That is an 'oil slinger' that goes underneath the cam gear. It goes under the larger bolt on the bottom and is horizontal. I just put one back 2 or 3 weeks ago.

I believe it is supposed to catch some of the oil that come from the 'timed oil squirter tube' in the front of the block.

I had to drill a hole in the front main to get oil to that 'squirter' to work. It gets a shot of oil every revolution by a slot in the crank that connects it with the center grove.

My only disclaimer it I didn't remember a year later how that went and that was how I got it back in there such that is would work an not hit. The hole is also the size of the bigger bolt.
