Finally ... the 500 is done! (pics)

Bought this tractor 6 months before I retired and 1 1/2 years later it's finally done.
Whoever told me I'd have all this free time on my hands lied to me. I'm busier now than I ever was, don't know how I ever had time to go to work (LOL)
Before and after pictures of the 500. Shorter list is what it didn't need than what it did.
Last picture is the next project - my OC4 crawler. Hope it doesn't take as long to restore as the "500"

Outstanding! I called David Brown Parts Ltd in England this morning and ordered some parts for mine. I had a body man here this afternoon to give me a price on repairing and painting the hood, grille and fenders too. I'm not fooling myself in to thinking it'll be as nice as yours, but at least with somebody else doing some body work on it,it'll be better than it would if I did the work myself.

Very nice. Nice looking tractor and those Oliver colors are just NICE!

Question, are the colors on your sheds by choice, or are they just a coincidence?

Real Nice! For some reason or the other those tractors seemed to get more than their share of getting beat up and abused.I've owned several 500 and 600s over the years and all had been hammered pretty good.

One question. Where did you get the green seat cushions for it? I've been looking for a set for mine.

Took a set of seat cushions for a MF 35 to a local upholstery company to use as a pattern and they made up my set with the green covering and white piping.
Going to the HPOCA winter get together, would like to see your 500. Taking I69 down part way are you close by? Send me a e-mail

I'm about 60 miles northwest of Lansing. Your email doesn't seem to be linked up. Try sending one to me.

Both!!! First shed was built almost 40 yrs ago. Same contractor was erecting 3 or 4 more sheds in our area about the same time. Ours was the last one to go up so we went with a different paint scheme than the others. Worked out good.

No more 500's Still have 3 more Olivers to restore the OC4 70 standard and a 1655 and whatever else that might just happen to follow me home !!!!

Looking good!. Where did you get new fuel filters since it takes the older elements. I am going to send an e-mail too. I have more questions. J.

That rig cleaned up pretty well! Like Traditional said down below, every one I've seen was so thrashed that I had trouble seeing the potential.

I have an OC4 like yours. Guy I bought it from put new tracks on it, but the pads are too wide- the U-frame for the blade is a little out of square, so the short side pushed against the outer edge of the left track, and ruined the front idler. I'm thinking of renting a plasma cutter, making a jig, and cutting about an inch off the inside of each one.

That is a well done project, I saw a 500 at a sale once, it was not running and rough. I have a mid OC4 like you, but mine is the 66" on center tracks and is the AG version. When you figure out the paint to use on your OC4 please let us know, Thanks for posting.

By chance do you have any pictures of the decals for the early 500 model that would be on the side of the hood ? E-mail should be open. Thanks
