Super 55 Carb Adjustment

I have a Super 55 that I cannot seem to get "rich" enough. It runs perfectly with the choke about half closed. I've rebuilt the carb, installed an electronic ignition and new coil and timed it with a light per where the book says too. I have been able to get idle set relatively decent to where it idles well at 450-500 rpm.

Adjusting timing seems to make no improvement in the lean running.

Hoses from air cleaner to carb have been replaced, new oil in the air cleaner.

I've adjusted the load needle from all the way in to all the way out and cannot get it rich enough.

SN of tractor is 6008, carb model is TSX-603. When rebuilt, replaced the idle needle, float valve, all gaskets, throttle shaft. Soaked for over a week and I think it is cleaned up pretty good.

What am I missing here?

Thanks

I have a pair of 660 tractors, one would run really well however could not get other one to anywhere close to the other.   Swapped carbs and both ran good on the good runner.   Took the manifolds (intake and exhaust as a unit) off and had it machine surfaced, problem solved.

Guys,
Got the tractor running over the weekend well. Took manifold off and cleaned up, sanded down the ports smooth and flat. Installed new gaskets and carb gaskets and it runs well now.

Not sure where it was taking in air, but it sure runs a lot better now.

thanks for your help!
