Hi guys,
I am now on to repairing the pto on my 1655 diesel. It has trouble shutting off. I also hear a chattering in there. I have adjusted the linkage all the way and you still have to pull the lever extremely hard to get it to stop. The pto housing looks similar to my 88 and completely different than my 1755 or 1850. I am figuring I need to replace the clutches. I have been told it will either have 5 or 7 clutches. I thought I had a manual for the 1655, but apparently I don't. Do I pull off the outer cover with the 4 smaller bolts to get at the clutches or do I have to continue and also take off the 2 larger bolts that hold the whole housing on to the tractor? I am assuming the long shaft will come out with it right? Once I have it out what am I looking for and how do the clutches come off? Thanks for any advice for taking it apart.
