How hard is it to replace a clutch in a super 77 for someone who has never done one... Also I assume they run a dry disk. And where would the best place to buy a kit.

Thanks,
Jake

kits you can get through this site or Korves there plenty others. you have to pull the long pto shaft out first, remove side tins, hood, fuel tank. if there is no belt pulley you un-bolt the clutch shaft/trans input coupler and slide it one way or the other (I forget which way). unbolt the bell housing and there ya are. but if you have a belt pulley theres not enough room the get the bell housing out so drain anti-freeze, remove hoses, take out 4 engine bolts lift engine up turn it 90 deg. set it back down on frame and do you clutch work.

You can put a clutch in WITHOUT removing the engine if it has a pulley housing. You fold the panel over the engine in case lifting the engine out is not a good option. Also once you have the bell housing off remove the clutch shaft by removing the retainer in the back held on with the 2 little screws and use the shaft for an alignment tool. Also do you know the history of the tractor? We had a handful of Super 77 diesels around that we made into 232 engines. We put a larger clutch in them as they needed the extra torque capacity of the larger clutch. Questions?

I don't know the history... The clutch seems fine. Just curious about how hard it is. I plan on pulling it though. Does anyone know how well the old stock clutches hold up?
