310 governor question

Can old style governor and associated parts be used
on 310 engine or will it require the governor that
came off of engine. Which set of weights is best to
use laminated or lead? Engine will be used as
puller . thanks for help.

I won't run over 3000 RPM. I guess it would be governor from 77 or 88 with pot metal cover.

The 77-88s have a 1750rpm high with no load, the 550- laminated governor has a 2200 rpm high with no load and fits in a 77-880 housing and will be easier to set @ 3000rpm and will bolt right on your 310 as will the linkage from a 77-880.Been there done that. Chuck

chuckyou are suggesting that i use laminated
weight. Which housing would you use 310 with that
crazy linkeage or 77-88 housing and linkeage or a
clone of the two. thanks for any info.
