oliver1850t are you out there ? 2 speed removal question

Oliver1850t I ran across a thread awhile back were you said you removed the 2 speed from your 1850. You said you got a 2150 shaft from Brad at maibachs. Did a 2150 not use a 2 speed so they had a factory delete shaft ? Or is it a 2 speed delete shaft for a 2150 ? Also what did you do at the clutch housing were it would normally bolt up to the 2 speed ? Make a plate and bolt up a flanged bearing ?

Any info you could give me is appreciated. I have a 2-70 puller project with a 8.3 swap Iam building and am deleting the 3 speed. I picked up a 1850 perkins sae 3 clutch housing that would bolt to a over under. It would be great if I could start with a off the shelf shaft and bearing arrangement. It would save me ALOT of time.

Thank you

A couple of things don't add up and I know my 1850 parts book is not here. The 2150 was a trunion mount so there was no delete shaft Since you are moving things around a bell housing for a 1900 thru 1950 should work as well

I have a sae 3 flywheel housing for my 8.3 so I can bolt it up to the 1850 Perkins over-under clutch housing. The problem I have is I would have to have a custom shaft made to delete the over-under. I would also have to make a a plate to bolt up to the back of the 1850 Perkins clutch housing and then in turn bolt a bearing to the plate to support the delete shaft.

Hopefully oliver1850t will run across this thread and set us straight with how he did his.

I have a bellhousing and a 2 speed delete from an 1850 with a Perkins if that"s what you"re looking for. Do you need pics or are you looking for the pieces themselves?

I wasn't sure if they made a 1850 Perkins with the 2 speed delete. Pictures would be great. Is it something you would be willing to sell ? That would be what I need.

I think the p/n for the clutch housing to bolt to the Perkins without a 2sp/3sp is 158659AS, I'll try to post some pics if dad can slip and slide out to the shop tonight and take some.

That would be great.! Thank you. Would you guys consider selling the setup or are you gonna hang onto it ?

Also, I found some parts manuals online and it appears the factory 1850 o/u delete shaft is a two piece shaft with a coupler in the middle. Maybe you can use the 2150 shaft in place of the factory 2 piece ?

Thanks again !

I just removed the front cover from the hydra power & bolted to the bell housing. I think the shaft & coulper are available aftermarket.

I didnt think of just using the o-u front cover. Good idea. Have you ran into any issues without the shaft supported were it goes thru the clutch housing ?
I would like to run a 1 piece straight shaft right to the trans so I only have one coupler. Just gotta figure out if I can use any factory parts to accomplish it.

Here's a pic of the 2 piece shaft. Dads still looking for the
housing, it may be doing double duty as a flower pot or
something else at the moment. If you end up needing the
setup, I'll sell it, assuming the housing hasn't walked off.

Thanks for the fast pictures. I would be interested in it if you can find the housing. Like I said I would like to figure out a one piece shaft but obviously I would buy the shafts and housing from you. Let me know if it turns up.

I don't run a support bearing, but I do run my PTO Drive shaft to run My hyd pump. I built a lightweight front end, steer it with a small cylinder and lines from the original steering motor. Do not have PTO but a carrier bearing on a flat plate. I use the long shaft for support of the delete shaft. I will say this shaft is twice as heavy as the factory option. I had to cut 1/2 an inch off the back of the shaft(splines) was a little too long. I am going to a slipper clutch this year, having it made so it will accept this shaft. Sorry the pics are bad, i didnt bother taking off the blanket, just reached under it.

Great thanks for the info ! I shot you a email earlier too cause I didn't know if you still go on here or not. Its better to have the info on here so it can help others.

So you used a factory 2150 shaft and just trimmed it a little ?
Do you run a single or multi disc clutch ? I am just wondering if the spline is long enough for a 2 or 3 disc clutch.

Hey Mitch I was wondering if you guys ever ran across that perkins 2 speed delete housing ?

Thank you

Hey horsinaround, I am using a factory delete tractor for my project and plan to use a gutted out 3spd to get my bearing support. Hope that helps some

Yes, I found it some time last summer and posted it here in the classifieds and someone bought it.

Thank you for replying Mitch. Maybe you or someone else can answer a question for me. On the factory hydra power or o/u delete tractors, did they run a rear support bearing/bushing in the back of the clutch housing like on the old 88s ?

Here's a picture I took of my 1850 delete when I listed it here, maybe this will help. Others will know better, but to my knowledge there was no bushing/bearing on the 1850 delete. In the picture you can see the black flange, it was used to bolt a shield onto so that you could cover the rotating shaft. In the parts book, there is a felt piece that is listed to go in between the black flange and the clutch housing, but nothing else best I can tell. I have an old 1650 LP with a delete also, I would have to check it to see if it has a bushing.
