On the hydrolic Unit of my super 77 there are two sets of wires, one on each side... That have been cut off at some piont, can someone tell me what these wires did?

56oliver, I'll try best to give you an answer probably be out in left feild for the right answer? The 2 wires coming out at top of hydraulic unit went to a Oliver Model Hydraulic Cylinders. It had a magnetic ring or switch hooked to the rod on the cylinder.
You could adjust this ring for controling you up and down postions what ever you have it set for.
It would automatically shut the cylinder for you.
Years ago I had one on my Super 77 and it would work one time and not the next. I was thinking it was in the switch but went back using it manually.
It been 30 yrs or better since i seen one work.
I hope some will pop in here and give you a better answer.

Mike has it correct. The cylinder would go to a preset depth and then release the hydraulic lever. You did not have to hold the lever till it got to the end of the stroke. By moving the lever to the side and then either up or down, it set the implement to a new depth. On the go setting of the implement depth with out leaving the tractor seat.

Yes, you could preset the collar on the cylinder to go deeper or shallower and just hit the hydraulic lever and it would go back to the preset magnetic collar setting.
