Super 77 power steering

Is there anyway I can use the hydraulic system on the tractor to power the power steering motor. The pump that was running it mounted to the generator and I can not afford to rebuild the generator. I have a loader mounted on the tractor and use the outlets to raise it and dump the bucket. Is there an outlet from the pump that could be plumbed to the steering motor? I'm a rookie mechanic. My rebuild mechanic says that the generator with the splined axle is unavailable or really expensive.

You could plumb in to the power beyond, but I guess that really shortens the life of the pump. Never tried it myself.

You could add a power steering pump from a ford or chevy from the 70s and 80s and make a mount for it. I have seen several done this way. Just an idea. Bandit

I tried this once plumbing the hydraulics into a charlynn power steering unit. at low rpm there was not enough volume or pressure to run the power steering. I mounted a power steering pump off of a car and it worked much better.

I was thinking I could use the hydraulic pump to replace the little power steering pump. There is a plug, looks like a 3/4 inch coming out of the base on the left side anterior to the outlets for the hydraulic cylinder. Is there pressure behind this plug? If there is I would connect it to the char Lynn motor and return it to the reservoir. I added a tank and plumbed it into the 1 1/2 inch plug above the cylinder outlets, as it did not have enough capacity to operate the cylinders properly. Would the hydraulic fluid be proper to run through the char Lynn motor? Thanks for your reply. I have used this outfit since the late 60's but the steering is difficult. It has a 1609 loader mounted backward to give it more maneuverability. Sorry for the long message.
