Your guess is just as good as mine. That block was used in 310 as well as 283 engines

sorry for the goof 250499 is on the right front under the alt bracket how else would I tell with out pulling the head off this engine.it was given to me and the owner had no idea what it is out of also it is painted black possibly out of a white?
off to the left of the three numbers above the starter their is the letter N

Does it have an injection pump? If so what is the complete model number?

They have different stroke. Pull a spark plug or injector and put a long piece of wire in the hole. Rotate crankshaft and take measurements.

Not always, depends what model the engine came out of.

The block number was used in a few models. I think John's idea of pump number is best bet. Just hope that nobody overhauled the pump and did not put a new tag on.
The black paint would point to a possible White 2-70. If the paint is right the Diesel would be a 283 and if gas would be 265. This is an educated(?) guess.
