crank seal felt

Oliver MODEL 70, rebuilding ENG and enquireing as to the front case with crank sticking thru, the LIP seal and the FELT packing, which is the last to be installed, the felt or the lip seal? Appears the lip seal but can no remember which way they were upon dissemble.

The felt is a dust seal to protect the lip seal. So the felt would be last.

For what it is worth the shop manual didn't seem to show this. I looked in the parts book with its break down. Got both from the museum.

I am working on one but I am not that far along.
