fluid in/out of tractor rears

Is there a way to clean the calcium residue off the rims after I drain the fluid out. The rims are salvageable if caught soon. Thanks

In the past I have made a paste of baking soda and water and applied it to the rims, Let it sit so the paste can dry and neutralize the acid on the rims. Wire wheel or sand blast to bare metal use a rusty metal primer or cold galvinising compound (spray can) and they should be good to go. Its worked for me in the past. Bandit

Start by rinsing the rims off with a hose, use lots of water. I have had to have leaks repaired over the years on rears with fluid, always just rinsed them good and no problems. Chris
