oliver 550 steering gear

I have an Oliver 550 w/ power steering problems numerous enough to require a rebuild. Casing is fine but wurm gear shaft, bearings, recirculation tubes for the balls, one sector shaft are all shot. Any help with parts locating or rebuilt gear boxes would be much appreciated. Please excuse any miscues as I am brand new to "forum discussions" of any kind. Also, as this tractor always steered way too easy without having any front loader etc. could I just convert to manual steering? Anyone with this experience out there?

You can get the shaft and ball nut assembly here on this site under
Ford parts. The steering shaft is the same on the worm gear and the
ball nut. However the diameter for the spline for the steering wheel
is different. Take the two shafts to a machine shop and have the old
splines welded onto the new shaft. I think I got the bearings from
AGCO. Don't know where you are, but you should be able to find a
dealer in your area. If not, I used Maibach's in Ohio, and O'Brien
County in Iowa.
By the way, I never heard of anyone saying a tractor steers too easy.
If you don't want your power steering, I'll take it.

Thanks Ken! Looks like you were right about Kent Gordon. I've shipped my steering box to him for rebuild. Seems like a good guy and I'll post my experiences once done.
