Super 88 265 Diesel

We have a Super 88 Diesel to rebuild. While we are at it we are thinking of larger valves, 1800 piston and sleeves and a rosa-master injection system, we plan to a a groove for the second o-ring on the sleeve. This tractor is used.
The first question is do the sleeves have to be shortened. If some one has done this does the cooling system work well?
Will the pistons work with the 88 indirect injection?
What would a good valve set be for larger valves or do we need to look for a different head.
What kind of power could we expect?

My dad and I put bigger sleeves and pistons in his super 88. It was over 25 years ago but I remember sleeves and pistons both had to be reworked. We got the kit from Central Tractor and they had listed several different kits for Olivers and I thought I could drop those sleeves right in but they had a ridge on top. We did get it to run great but cylinder head cracks were its demise. If I had to do it again I would drop a 283 or 310 gas or diesel in. I have a buddy who pulls his 77 with a 310 and also uses it for haying. Just my thoughts. Greg

just bored the 88 sleeves out to 37/8.1800 pistons are flat top. Can't remember but used 770 rods or super 77 rods.Used chevy valves.

You have a casting number for the head? The original Super 88 diesels had larger exhaust valves. I had one of those heads till I got broke into. Greg is talking about an old M & W kit. They were 3-7/8 inch. Your 77 rods will not work with a diesel crank. Crankpin is smaller. Measure the compression height on those 1800 pistons. How important is starting? That is why they had Waukesha rework those heads with the big exhaust valves. More questions

We had a 265 that we rebuilt with similar parts years ago. I can't remember on the sleeve length, but we did have the bowls of the pistons welded up and machined flat to work with the indirect injection. We also added a roosa master pump with worked great with this combination.

Craig, I'm getting off topic but I was wondering if you have room at the shop for my White which needs work on differential lock housing. I have service manual but housing had needle bearing failure. I was going to talk to Dave Chase to see if he could bring the tractor over when you have time. I got the housing off right now if you want to see it. Thanks. Greg
