Oliver 1550 Value

Looking at a 1550 wide front gasser.Runs and operates OK looks pretty good engine was rebuilt about a 100 hrs ago.Whats it worth? Think I can buy it for around $2800.Also what is the engine worth as I have a diesel engine I'd like to put in it?

If it's decent,I'd give $2800 for another one right now. Either side of $3500 is about right around here. Last one I saw sell at auction brought $5700. There was a 1555 gas on a sale this spring. If memory serves me right,that one ended up at around $4500. It needed a few odds and ends. The claws were gone off the 3pt arms.

If you can get it for $2800 I would buy it. As for the engine if its been rebuilt with 100 hours I would say its worth $1000 to $1500, Its easy to get that much in a good rebuild. Over the years I have bought 3 1550 and 1 1555 from $1300 to $4500 (traded for) and it can be hard to find them to buy, Most people that have them find them very handy tractors and don't want to sell them. I got one for $2400 a year ago. My first experience with Olivers. Looked and ran good but there was a lot wrong that I didn't see. I'm still working to get it where I want it. I'd say grab it.

There's a diesel one on Albany NY craigslist for 2200 right now. Looks decent.

I was just searching Craigslist out of boredom. Found this 1550 diesel close to home. Just posted yesterday,$4500.

I sold my 1550 to a neighbor for 3000 a few years ago, and felt I was selling too cheap- but he's a good guy, and has done me a lot of favors over the years.
