electronic ignition update

I posted a few weeks
ago about trouble i
had with the
electronic ignition
on my 1650. The cause
of the problem was
not determined but
pertronix was very
helpful and stood
behind they're
product. They
approved a warranty
return and I'm up and
running again. The
folks here at.
Yesterday's tractor
where i purchased It
were also very
helpful.

So what was the end result did you get a replacement kit or did you go back to the OEM ignition?

Pertronix had them
send me a new ignitor
which i received in
three days. I put it
on this weekend and
the old tractor runs
better then ever.
pertronix was very
fair with their
guarantee. I would
recommend the
electronic igniton
kit to anyone. This is the fourth one i have done and I'm very happy with all of them.

I'd like to find out if these electronic distributers are really super dependable or not?

I was at a tractor pull last summer and a real competitive tractor had to go home without even 1 hook because of electronic ignition issues.

The nice thing about points is at least you can file (old school), bend, adjust and troubleshoot easily to keep running.

After having four tractors now with electronic ignition i would not even consider wasting my time to file points. The improvement on my tractors has been amazing. Start and run better and spark plugs last so much longer.

That's good to know, thanks. I have a 77 with a bad distributer, I will give the Pertronix a try. You talked me into it.
