widening wheelbase oliver 1600

Hello, can someone tell me how to widen my rear
wheelbase on my tractor? I'm trying to install chains
but the tire almost touch the mudguard so I don't
have space, I would need to widen it about 3" per
side. thanks a lot

Where to start??? Are the fenders bolted on the axle in the set of holes closest to the tractor? If your tractor is a row crop, you need to move wheel centers out on the axle(obvious), so I'm wondering if you have a wheatland or standard tread tractor. If so, look at the wheel rims. There should be 2 ridges made into the rims where the clamps fasten the rim to the wheel centers. You will need to unbolt and move the rims to the inner ridge and fasten them down. OR you may have a row crop with the wheel center turned with the dish facing in for narrow row crop work. In that case, either remove entire wheel from hub and switch sides or remove rims from wheel, remove wheel centers from hubs and turn the wheel center around and reinstall. If the tractor was used for narrow row work, the wheels were set in nearly all the way to drive down the rows without damaging the crop. Any way you change them is going to be a lot of heavy work!! Get some good help and be careful!!!! Chris
