oliver 88 diesel with turbo

No, but I would like to see the one you found. I believe the 1950T was first factory produced Oliver with a turbo. Greg

88 engine does not have enough oil pressure to keep a turbo alive. The engine must be a transplant. I have seen pictures of an 88 with a Cummins.

My uncle put a turbo on his super 88 diesel years ago and never has had problems with it, pulls small square baler and it runs auger and he takes it to a few antique tractor pulls. But they didn't come factory with one.

I have a 880 running 2800rpm with turbo, has 15 to 18 oil pressure. return line from turbo to pan is clear tubing, lots of oil going to pan, been running two years no problems, tractor used for pulling only.Running 16 lbs boost on lp gas.

Turbo lube is a function of flow - for cooling - as much as for lube. Probably more for cooling. You don't need that much pressure to keep bearings apart, after all.

The two things that spell death to a turbo is spooling down from operational speeds with no lube and cooking the oil and bearings by shutting down with it at maximum temperature.

I stand corrected. I have no experience with this outside of diesel trucks. I would never have thought 18 psi could keep a turbo alive. I guess the flow is high enough.

I turboed a fleetline 88 diesel that has the 265 pistons in it back in the '70s. I used an AiResearch TO-4 and kept the boost to about 7 or 8 PSI maximum. No problems with oiling or the like. When I bought the turbo, my intent was to cut down on black smoke under load, not to see how much power I could make.
I think the Super would be better for this for no reason other than the crankshaft has larger crankpins.

as stated below the 1950T was the first Oliver with a turbo.

Other Oliver's with a turbo were the 1855, 1955, 2150 and some of the 3208's in the 2255's.
