1800 FWA TERRA TIRES LISTED

I've been interested in an 1800 FWA WITH TERRA TIRES, the owner is one nice gentleman that does fantastic restorations . But the problem seems to be an issue with the engine in it , by looking at the photos I believe it is a 302 waukesha not the 310. I've talked to several Oliver experts who tell me that it is not the right engine in the tractor. I told em
I'd buy It but didn't look close enough to see it is not the right engine UNLESS by some rare chance it came that way, please shed some information, he says build card is correct engine , if I'm wrong I'm going Togo ahead and buy it !

IF YOU LIKE IT,BUY IT.what does the build card say the engine serial number is ? what are the casting dates on the engine?what are the casting numbers ? where is the dipstick? what injection pump does it have? you know it's a 302.

Dipstick is on the right side of the engine if it was a 310
It would be on the left side, it doesn't have a roosa master it has a Bosch pump , the tractor is in Indiana and the gentleman can't tell for sure what the casting numbers are , that is what I know for sure , thanks

they write the serial numbers on the back of the card in pencil, along with lot numbers ,destinations and any changes.

Clearly it has a 302 in it, so how could the engine numbers match? Unless you take a grinder and number stamps to it!

Gentleman or restoration jockey?

I would dare to say that he knows and is not being straight. Typical salesman ploy. Would you trust someone you did not know very well, to spend housands of your money? If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it probably is a duck.

Likely an engine from a generator has been swapped in. It happens all too often. Can be a good move (Cummins transplants into an otherwise scrap frame or as a workhorse), but honesty goes a long way.

Still your choice to buy it. Genny sets are often not run that much and would not be run around ticking over or overloaded. At the right price you could always install the correct engine.

Did you look at tractor and motor if it's was a 302 it would have removable covers the length of the block. It doesn't look like a 302 to me. And 1800 didn't come with 310 it had a 283 at least the a and b series did not sure about c series. the 283 Block look like a 88 block with places for both types oil filters and block had 7 mains and hard to get bearing for.

We just bought an 1800C diesel, and I can tell ya for sure the engine in ours (which we know is the origional 310) doesnt look a thing like the one in that terra tractor. Ours only has 1 oil filter to begin with. I would be curious to see a picture from the pump side of the engine.

1800s never came with a dry sleeve 302 or a bosch pump. Get the tractor ser#, call Floyd co museum and pay $20 and get the build card. The sheets that come with the card will explain the build codes. If you don't care about originality buy it if the price is right. If you want original you'll have a tough time finding another engine.

He claims it is a excellent restoration and very rare tractor...hmm..wrong engine, terra tires (not factory, didn't come out till 50 series)..and the ford air cleaner bonnet on it just for starters. Personally id walk the other way cause who knows about the rest of the tractor, unless it was cheap. Most people that restore "rare" tractors are gonna make sure everything is 100% correct and legit. If its not they let you know when buying..Sounds like the guy either doesn't have a clue what is right or is just a tad on the shady side..just my 2 cents
