Correct Rear Tire Size for 1946 Oliver 70 Standard

I need a little help from you seasoned Oliver folks about tire selection.
My standard 70 has these ridiculous 17.9" tires on the 24" wheels. Research indicates that original tire size was 10",11" and 12", which doesn't translate to today's modern size descriptions. Looking at the Firestone website, tire sizes (width) are 9.5", 11.2", 12.4", 13.6" and 14.9". Overall diameter ranges from 41.2" to 49" for these widths.
So in order to look correct and fit under the fenders, what can you recommend before I spend the $ necessary to replace what currently is on the rim? I'd sure like to hear from someone that's 'been there-done that'.

You need to measure the inside of the rim first. The 10,11, & 12 inch also match rim widths. The 10 inch is now the 11.2 , the 11 inch is now 12.4 and the 12 inch is now 13.6. This change was made in the mid to late 1950's. Hope this helps. J.

Our Cockshutt 70 Standard had original 12x24 tires. We repaced them in the late 70's with 13.6x24 and that is what is on it yet. Driving it on the weekend! Great machine.

Mine has 13 24's on it. They are original duck
foot firestones. They work good for tractor
pulls. Could use one size smaller for more
torque but being barn fresh original 1944 it
seems to work great.

They have a nice writeup and chart regarding tire sizes and how the numbering system has changed over the years.
