I need a little help from you seasoned Oliver folks about tire selection.
My standard 70 has these ridiculous 17.9" tires on the 24" wheels. Research indicates that original tire size was 10",11" and 12", which doesn't translate to today's modern size descriptions. Looking at the Firestone website, tire sizes (width) are 9.5", 11.2", 12.4", 13.6" and 14.9". Overall diameter ranges from 41.2" to 49" for these widths.
So in order to look correct and fit under the fenders, what can you recommend before I spend the $ necessary to replace what currently is on the rim? I'd sure like to hear from someone that's 'been there-done that'.
