electronic ignition

Has any one had any problems with the pertronix ignition kits? I ordered one from this site last week for my 1650 and it don't seem to work. I have installed several with great success so I'm upset about this one. The tractor ran great for an hour so i parked it. Now i have no spark. Reinstalled the points and it fired up. Any ideas what's up? I always thought that pertronix made a fine product so i hate to point figures yet

I have them in both of my gas powered tractors, one of them is 15 years old. I strongly recommend you buy the matching Flamethrower coil to go with the Ignitor. They are very sensitive to the primary circuit resistance. Look in the instructions that came with your Ignitor. It will tell what the primary resistance needs to be. A 4 cyl engine needs a coil with 3 ohms primary resistance. Any less and the module will burn out. By using their Flamethrower coil, you know you have the correct resistance.

I bought the flame thrower coil at the same time. I wouldn't consider say other coil with the ignitor. I have 3 other tractors with the same set up and never had a problem.

The guy I help part time installed one on a Moline propane. The customer liked it so well and no problems, so he wanted one on the second one also the same size Moline and also propane. It went bad in a month. He was also puzzled as it was the first one he ever had a problem with. J.
