I am looking at a 1655 and 1755 is one better than the other ?
They are both mfwd 1655 has a loader .1755 has a Perkins
engine .

1755- More HP, better hydraulics, better brakes, better PTO, better steering motor. The 1655 is basically a 1650 in slightly different trim, with a wood-grain decal on a different colored dash.

Overall though, it depends on what you need it for and what general condition they are in. If you need a yard tractor w/ occasional pto use, go with the 1655. If you're thinking of doing any tillage or pulling 8-10T wagons go with the 1755.

You'd have to use an 1850 tub. There are some out there that have been changed, but it's not factory. Would make a heck of a nice tractor though. About the same as a White 2-85 but with better styling.

Someone has repowered the 1755 if it has a 354 Perkins. That repower should make it a good reliable tractor for heavy work.
That is what we did with our 1750 years ago when the Waukashaw blew up. No problems since, it runs like an 1850.

Let me know about the one you don't get, I sold my 1850 a while back (mistake) and I sure do miss it. I wouldn't mind getting the information on the one you don't get, email is open.

I would go with the 1655. Especially if the 1755 has a 354 in it? Definitely not the 310 that is supposed to be in it. The 1655 is much better on fuel, and I trust the 283 over the 310 (should be in the 1755) or the 354 someone somehow got into a 1755.

1655 is a lot better on fuel too, if you are at all concerned with that.

Go with what Kell said. If you now use or will use a single acting hydraulic cylinder like for some of these round balers use go with the 1755. Much better to adapt to single acting hydraulics! Turn the pump down to about 85-90 Horse Power and that should help with less oil leaks + it will be better on fuel.

I've got a 1755 here, with a 1850 motor in it. It is the most used tractor on the farm. The hydraulics of the 55 series and the reliability of the Perkins is hard to beat. If it had the mfwd frontend under it, it would be a perfect all around tractor. If you don't buy the 1755, let me know. I may be interested.
