Hey Super 99 pullers, where do you find bull pinion gears? The hard surfacing is flaking off on mine. I checked with the local AGCO dealer and they are no longer available. Am I stuck searching salvage yards? Has anyone ever had them welded and the gear teeth recut?

Seen lots like that and have one that has a few teeth just starting to flake. You have to take into consideration this has happened over 7 or 8 thousand hours in the field. Depending on how bad yours are it should last for many years if it's just pulling a sled a few times per summer. Just my own thoughts on that as that's what ours is doing for the rest of its life.

I agree with Duane., mine was like that when I restored my 990. I left it alone and it works fine. I plow with is tractor and pull it 33 or 4 times a year with no problem. Larry

How about if you reverse them? Also count the number of teeth. If they have been replaced the t later ones had a different tooth count so you need both the pinion and bull gears.

There is a method I have seen that cuts the flaky/bad tooth out of the gear leaving a dovetail. A new tooth is machined to fit and is pressed in place.
