How ID Oliver 60RC exhaust and Intake Valves for Asjustment?

My factory shop manual specifies .010" for the intake and .012" for the exhaust in terms of valve lash adjustment.
However, looking at the intake and exhaust manifold, it isn't apparent which is which.
Embarrassing question to ask - starting at the rear of the motor is the 1st valve intake or exhaust? And do they continue as a pair (intake/exhaust) all the way to the front?
Thanks in advance

I would say, by looking at a picture online, that the first and last ports are exhaust. So starting from the back (or front) of the motor it would be:
E-I-I-E-E-I-I-E
Just like the 66-77-88 Waukesha's. If they continued in pairs like you ask you would need 4 separate intake ports on your intake manifold and 4 separate ports on your exhaust manifold. Since there is only 2 intake ports on the intake manifold the 2 pair of intake valves have to each share an intake port on the manifold.

You start at the front - the timing end - for No1 cylinder.

All engines do not have the same porting arrangements, but
usually the front valve is an exhaust. But they may not
necessarily go alternate, although there will be one for each pot
(generally, for older engines).

Best way is to turn the engine in the normal direction of rotation.
When both valves are closed for almost a turn of the engine, the
following valve which opens will be the exhaust valve.

Think four strokes - induction, compression, power and
exhaust. The compression and power strokes require closed
valves.

Thanks. I will try as suggested and try to figure it out. Valves currently have 0.012 - 0.016" lash, so it's obvious they haven't been adjusted for years.

This turned out to be the correct arrangement. Thanks.
