1800 Engine Replacement

I just bought a 1961 Oliver 1800. It's a gas tractor. I understand this is a Series A. The motor in my tractor is stuck from sitting and the block has cracked behind the carburetor. I'd like to get a whole good used motor and just bolt it in.

What other Oliver motors will swap in the easiest? Will the 1800 series B and C gas motors bolt right in? How hard to switch to Series A, B, or C Diesel? The 5.9 cummins would be neat but I'm trying not to throw tons of cash at it. Thanks for your help.

Before I make a suggestion, what do you want to use the tractor for? What do you want to use the hydraulic system for?

It will be used primarily for loader work. I'd like
to keep it somewhat original, at least all Oliver

O. K> A lot of people around here wanted a gas tractor for loader work. I would go with a B or C series gas engine, Also I would run a separate hydraulic pump for your loader. I would also convert it to hydrostatic steering. More questions? Post an e-mail. If it has a wide front is it the original style like an 88 or is it the stronger one?

I guess it has the front end like an 880. It has regular hubs though, not big ones like the 880 does. It will arrive this week and when it does I'll get a better look. It won't be doing super heavy loader work, mainly loading and unloading small three point equipment. What was wrong with the regular power steering system?
