Oliver 88 row crop

I am looking at an early 50s oliver 88 gas on craigslist. It is one owner, complete with all shields. Converted to 12 volt. Rear tires look to be about 40 percent, hard to tell from a picture. Runs good with no leaks etc. his asking price is $2500. Is that in the ballpark or a little high. I don't have much knowledge about olivers. Needs paint but looks to be pretty straight. Thanks.

If it's all there and straight,no need for new tires right away, that's probably in the ballpark. You could buy a $1500 88 then spend $600 on sheet metal, then start looking for tires and end up with more than that in a rougher tractor.
I'll just say,if all the sheet metal is original to the tractor and it's all original paint,I'd leave it like it is. I saw a 66 that way at a show a few years ago. It was rusty, probably 40-50% paint, but it was absolutely all there and original. Out of the couple of hundred Olivers there,I had the biggest emotional attachment to that one.

Depends on where you are. In wisco that's a high price. Unless it has working hydraulics and a 3 point its not worth it. Being a one owner tractor is nice but doesnt necessarily make it worth more. If it has all options as mentioned before and you have the money, sure go for it. If it doesnt it would have a hard time selling around here for $1500.
