2150 knock at high RPMs

2150 has developed a knock at high RPMs, Guy said it could be the pump. Said he replaced the lines and that didn't work. could it be the pump or does the motor ned rebuilt?

had a 4430 deere do the same thing , one rod bolt was backing off and piston was hitting head , when rod cap would start to flex , i somehow caught it in time before it blew apart

I doubt it's the pump. Heard a JD 4320 do that above 1500 RPM, had a rod bolt out laying in the pan.. Neighbor's 2-155 had a knocking noise at idle up to about 1400 RPM, was quiet above that. Had a broken crank at the rear of the #4 rod. Put in a military crank to fix it. There is a chance you have some injectors sticking open, but that should show up at idle too.

Just an outside chance, but how are your exhaust manifold gaskets? The 478 in my 2-135 had a noise. A gasket was leaking.

I would try to use the old broom stick method to isolate the noise. Sure would not run it too long at high rpm. If it is a lower end knock, then I sure would not stand on either side of the motor.
Years ago we had a 1750 let go and there was cast iron 150 ft away. The tractor was running about 1200 rpm.
It could be so many things you may have to just start taking it apart.
