need picture of cockshutt 540 governor shaft

hi Phil,

(quoted from post at 03:16:15 10/23/14) Hi Jonathan,

Your governor shaft is not broken.

What is the trouble that you are having with this governor???

We have talk together some time ago about this governor.

It's not suppose to have a bolt at the end of the shaft to maintain the cam gear ?

The governor make noises when uninstalled. I shurely need some bearings.

Is there a part list somewhere to see all the part of the governor. I try to find , but without success.

Regards

Jonathan

It looks like the shaft is scored on the end too. It would be nice to have pictures of all the governor parts laid out. Do you have an e-mail address? I can maybe send you some pictures. J.

Hi Jonathan,

three observations since I studied your photos more closely:

1.There should be a nut on the end that hold the drive gear. The main gov. shaft should be threaded on that end.

2.There should be an open cage bearing on the shaft on the housing end of the shaft next to the flyball cup.

3. You may not have the correct F162 Cockshutt front cover since you have a lot of paint colors on your engine.

this is why I though that the was broken.

Yeah. I sent some other picture to Alice, I will upload them here too.

the engine has benn rebuilt 2 years ago. They paint all the motor. I have no idea if the motor is the original one or if the motor have been replace for another model. IT's look like a mess to me :)

Hey Jonathan,

I looked at the seperated parts of your governor.

1. You are missing the flyball cage.

2. You are missing the 4 flyballs.

3. You are missing the balls in your bearing cage. You only have the cage.

3 What is the overall length of your gov. shaft??

4 What holds the gear/coupler onto the shaft. Was it pressed on tight??

My new gov. shaft is 4.160 long. The shaft diameter is .588 where the gear fits on and it is threaded for a nut to hold the gear. The rest of the shaft has a .435 diameter.

I should mail you the complete parts breakdown for the 540 governor.

Email me or call me with your address.
