1550 hydraulics, are mine slow?

I have a FEL on my tractor. It doesn't go up & down very fast, not anywhere near as fast as my little MF1010. I was just wondering if the hydraulics should be faster. When lowered it will lift the front end off the ground. And the bucket stays up indefinitely so they hold good.
I can here the pump work when I use the loader or turn the steering wheel, & it does slow the motor a bit.
Is this normal?

Slow is a relative term. That vintage Oliver did not have the fastest hydraulics in the industry. Do you have a book to see if the flow is varied or if it has a restrictor valve installed? Most tractors of that era had a way to vary flow of fluid. If that does not explain it then check the filter to see if it is clogged. Do the valve levers move freely?

He also has the wheatland style hydraulic system. I would need to look to see if they used the small pump or if they used the pump like on a 1650.
