Gambles Farmcrest

Neighbor has what he calls a Gambles Farmcrest 30 he is trying to sell me. I have done some looking online and found they are the same as a cockshutt 30. My question is, how do you know if it is a Cockshutt or was sold as a Gambles Farmcrest? The grill center is missing on the tractor. What is it supposed to say? Most on the internet say cockshutt. My hunch is more Gambles Farmcrest exist now that were ever produced.

While it is indeed a rare tractor, there were no official records to prove that his tractor was an original Gambles Farmcrest. So like you surmise, somebody could convert a Cockshutt 30 or a Coop E3 into a Gambles Farmcrest just by new paint and decals. On a Farmcrest, the front radiator strip should say Cockshutt and the Coop E3 models should say Coop. It really is a shame that official records were not kept on these three tractors, because that would really increase the value of both the Coop and the Farmcrest.
I actually have an original Farmcrest, hence my name on this site. (Well, I think it is original, but how could it be proved?) I snapped a photo of it before it was tore down before restoration.
I will admit that I'm no Cockshutt/Coop/Farmcrest expert, so I may be corrected by Irv or Phil.
One more thing: Although it would not be historically accurate, I would pay money for somebody to manufacture a front radiator strip that has the word "Gambles" or "Farmcrest" on it.

gambles is correct on everything, but cockshutt only sold the model 30 to the gambles skogmo stores for 3 years 47,48,and 49 so as long as it falls into those years it could be correct my Gambles was bought by my grandpa in 1989 out of minnesota in its original work cloths, when grandpa restored it he kept the original hood because it still said gambles farmcrest on the original decal which he showed along side the tractor. since then the hood has been long gone and the tractor was sold I have bought the tractor back several years ago but only proof I have are pictures of the tractor restored with the original hood being shown beside it.

Hi Gambles,

You are exactly right on your info.

Do not hold your breath for a custom nose strip!!! I only have the CO-OP and COCKSHUTT nose center strips.
