The local scrap man came up with a Supper 99 with the GM 3-71 engine, the SN. makes it a late 1955. It is thought it has a bad rear end, he also has an older 99 frame with good gears. Will the older 99 gears fit in a Supper? Don't really need any more tractors, but don't want it to get scraped either.

Is the older 99 a 4 cylinder or is it a 6 cylinder with a 4 speed transmission? The 4 speed and the 6 speed transmissions are different. Somebody will want the Super for sure!

Not sure what the other tractor had for an engine, there isn't one in it now, and the frame has been altered. Looks like it may have had a big truck engine put in. Going back today to look at it again. They think it is a bad bull gear, but who knows, don't look like the rear deck has been off to check.

Super 99 gas , diesel and gm have the same back end as well as the 950 and 990 from what the parts manual says. The older 4 spd 99 is different totally. Hope this helps and even though it's broken it's worth saving. Duane o.

Duane , there are lots of small differences in the rearends throughout production, some parts were updates 3-4 times!

If I were you, I would snap it up just to have it around while taking your time finding replacement parts.

Or, part it out. There are a lot guys willing to pay big bucks just for the air cleaner package. Actually all of the sheet metal is extremely valuable also. The original GM 3-71's are becoming desirable because it makes the MF98, 990, S99 & 995 family increasing more valuable.
