Oliver 35 or 40 combine

Hey fella's I got a question and it might be dumb. Will the rear out of a oliver 35 of 40 combine work in 77 or 88 oliver tractor? Will the internal guts work out of it into a tractor? Their is one in the scrapyard down the street, and I would hate to see that rear go to scrap. The rear I noticed is setup for a super series since it has disc brakes. If the rear out that combine will not work. Then what will that rear work in?

I know the 40 used an 88 rear end. We put one in our helical gear 880 there are some parts on the input shaft that have be changed. The tractor will run close to 20 mph if its on 38" tires. The combine was on 26" tires and used a different ring & pinion.

A parts book would be handy to compare ring & pinion numbers of that to a tractor. Make a good tractor drive set up!

Thanks Cobroller. The reason why I'm considering that rear is we have a 1949 88, the pinion and spider gears are really worn. My father installed bearings on the shifting gear shafts, because we lost third gear. We installed another bull gear because the old one missing some teeth. That's when we found out how worn the pinion and spider gears were. Now its probably been 16 to 17 years ago we did this work, but the ole girl runs so good, and I don't want to put her in the pasture yet. Now if you got any suggestions I'm open. :D
