1555 starting trouble

Just my luck, rebuilt engine and injectors, because they were so hard to get out of the head, now pump will not send fuel to the injectors, started great when I got it just had engine trouble. I did everything I know to do so pump will be going to shop next, any ideas what happened, couldn't be much but the pump repair man won't say that. Thanks again.

Did the pump sit for a while as I assume? This current fuel (bio anyway) will gum up if it sits for maybe a year in the pump without running.

I had a 1950T that sat like that and wouldn't put a thing out the secondary. I think the plungers stuck.

I took the lines loose from the pump, took the drive gear off and put a plug in the outlet.

I pumped up transfer pump and turned the injector pump with a ratchet and kept repeating that over several tries. I will warn you the very first time I did that I looked away and it spit the drive shaft out. So hang on. It didn't try again. I would turn it a few turns and pump the transfer.

It took several tries but I started getting fuel out the secondary. I replace the outlet fitting and retimed the pump and the tractor started but for a while I thought it ran a little funny down low. Several hours and gallons of fuel later it seems fine now.

Someone will probably cringe at this but it did work for me once. Haven't tried it again. I also think I have a good feel for things.

When I bought it the main bearing had spun so I've had it about 10 months that it's been sitting, but when I first got the tractor 10 months ago it would start right up.

You're in the same situation I was. I think it would help if you could get some fuel with a cleaner mixed in flushed through it.

If I let a pump sit again I think I will try to get a fuel stabilizer in before taking it off.

Using the above method I hooked the lines back up and bled the secondary lines to the injectors without a bunch of cranking. Then I put the gear in and retimed the pump.
