83H corn picker

I see somebody posting concerning one over on Implement Alley. I was wondering if anybody else had ever owned one and had some stories to tell. A person I knew growing up years ago had one but I guess I never thought to ask him about his experiences with it. Of course my interest in corn pickers really sat dormant till a couple years ago.

I own one have used it 3 seasons soon to be 4. I only have bout 2 acres. I don't have much to say about it other than it works good, doesn't shell much off the cobs and it has a corn saver. Husking bed doesn't work perfect but I'm sure thats mainly cause the rubber rollers are old and hard. Also it sure looks good behind my Super 88 diesel

My Dad had one like this picker only a little bit older and it had green wheels. It was in great shape. He was ill the year that we left the farm. That was my Senior year in high school. I remember that my uncles had the one that you have pictured. Together one Saturday we picked a huge amount of corn. I pulled ours with Dad's Super 77 Diesel. I remember we just went all out that day and had a lot of fun. That was 50 years ago in October.

Does it have stripper bars or snapping rolls? We used to take the bars off the picker and put them on the #12 corn heads and then put those snapping rolls on the picker. Both owners were happy then. J.
