4-225 swap to 8.3 Cummins

Could anyone who's swapped an 8.3 into a 4-225 comment on how much in the way of modifications you had to do? The 3208T in the 4-225 blew today and we have a good 8.3 sitting in the shop, but don't have a good 3208T laying around at the moment. Time is the issue I'm most concerned about, kinda need it running. Thanks.

Mitch - I'm about as biased toward Cat as you can get, so my view is a bit one sided, but if downtime is the primary concern, I'd think you could find a replacement 3208 pretty quick...

It's quite a bit of work but makes a real nice tractor when done. You need to extend the frame at the front and move the radiator up. Add to the sheet metal and new engine mounts. I'll try and take some photos later today. Whats your cpl? I have a detuned 1270 in mine.

Cpl is 1439, truck motor so I know I'll have several changes to make, but it's basically new. Haven't measured anything yet, but if it won't fit easily in the hole we'll just find a good 3208T somewhere and replace in kind. Have a spare motor for nearly everything else on the farm, just not this one, of course.

Boss says we have a 3208T out of a truck. $2500.00 exchange. 800-828-6943 or 517-625-4440.

Frame extension using part of a 4-150 frame. You can kinda see the grinder marks. I have quite a few photos if you want to send me your e - mail. Not a easy or quick task by the looks of it.
