1755 hydraulics

Hi guys,
I have a concern that started recently while baling hay on my 1755 oliver diesel. Obviously I don"t use hydraulics while baling small squares, but the brakes and steering are used. It makes a warbling howling sound once in a while when the tractor is idling, you then steer the wheel and the steering wheel will be hard to turn for a second then make the warbling sound and work fine. It is a sound that reminds me of air in the system. If I move the 3 point it makes the same sound. The hydraulic oil level is fine. If I run the tractor half speed or wide open I don"t seem to notice this problem. I am concerned that this fall it won"t pick up my 3 pt plow and that the hydraulic pump is going out. What can I look for as far as the noise. It seems to make less noise if the 3point is up. Thanks for any and all help.

I want to see what answer you will all get. When was the last time the filter was changed? Do you have a low or high mounted cooler pump? How about a serial number? How much noise do it make now that it is cooler when you first start the tractor? What are you using for hydraulic fluid? Answer that all first. On your 88 governor how much wear is there in the external linkage? I would suggest all new bearings to start with. You have a phone number or e-mail? J.

I got the tractor 2 years ago and haven't changed the hydraulic oil and filter yet. I have the filter in the shed. Is changing the filter as straight forward as the 50 series olivers? Or do I have to drain all the hydraulic oil first. Can I just pump the oil out with a open hydraulic hose? That is what makes me nervous is that it doesn't seem to make that noise when it is cool, just once it warms up. I use Fleet Farms AW 32 hydualic oil. Not sure if it is the high or low hydraulic cooler pump, it is at about the injection pump height maybe a little higher on the left side. Thanks for your input on my 88 too.

O. K> Still looking for your e-mail or phone number. I think you are also In Ohio. You did NOT look in your operators manual!. To change the hydraulic oil get 2 empty 5 gallon buckets. There is an Allen headed plug at the bottom of the filter, remove it and let the oil run into the pail. Remember I worked for a dealer and we sold White type 55 hydraulic oil so that is what I would use or we have a few customers that have IH and Whites. They run Hy-tran in everything. Take that shield off the side so you can see what you need to do as you need to bleed the unit as well.

J. I still have your phone number from the last time I talked to you about the crankshaft pulley on this tractor. Can I call you Friday? If so what time is good for you? I checked tonight when I got home and it does make the same noise even when cold. The serial number is 234 088 676 the model # is 575 22165. I think I will try to replace the hydraulic oil and filter. I have an IT manual, but it is not the best for a novice. The 55 series Olivers seem more foreign to me than the 50 series hydraulics. I don't have an Oliver dealer near me, but I do have a Case dealer. So I can by their hy-tran fluid and be ok?
