young tractor

Hi guys,
I have a concern that started recently while baling hay on my 1755 oliver diesel. Obviously I don"t use hydraulics while baling small squares, but the brakes and steering are used. It makes a warbling howling sound once in a while when the tractor is idling, you then steer the wheel and the steering wheel will be hard to turn for a second then make the warbling sound and work fine. It is a sound that reminds me of air in the system. If I move the 3 point it makes the same sound. The hydraulic oil level is fine. If I run the tractor half speed or wide open I don"t seem to notice this problem. I am concerned that this fall it won"t pick up my 3 pt plow and that the hydraulic pump is going out. What can I look for as far as the noise. It seems to make less noise if the 3point is up. Thanks for any and all help.
