Replacing a clucth in a Oliver 77

Doing research on replacing the clucth on my 77. from what I see you have to pull the PTO shaft out. Is this the PTO shaft at the back of the tractor and if so they say there is a tin cup you have to remove to get to the keeper of the shaft. If so is it the tin cup at the bottom of the PTO shaft at the rear of the tractor?

No, you need to remove the long shaft that drives the splined PTO shaft you hook the implement to. Do you at leas t have an I & T manual? depending if your tractor has the PTO shield on it will involve removing either 7 or 9 3/8 inch cap screw.

Not sure what you are referring to with the "tin can". Yes, The shaft that is part of the clutch assembly to the pto has to be removed. This shaft is around 6' & runs all the way into the throw out bearing if it is a Super, bushing if it is not. It can be a bear to pull out.

Take the cast clutch cover off then take the three bolts out behind the clutch pack like this. This is on the 1550 that I have torn down right now,but it's the same set up. I think you must have been some archives on a 1750-1850 etc when you refer to the tin cap and retaining ring. This is a whole different outfit.
