429 Cockshutt combine Neil Grant or anyone else.

For Neil or anyone else that knows. In the 430-431 combine discussion Neil mentioned they replaced the 427/428 models. We had an unusual parts customer in that the farmer (s) were from Northwest Ohio, but the combine was on a South American farm and that ran a 429 machine. Was it an export machine only? It was used to harvest rice and it was equipped with a bagger attachment instead of a grain bin. Also if anyone has the literature on the 430 they show it shelling corn and if I remember right there was a picture of a grain truck with Ohio plates. The first one out of the Columbus branch kind of before they were on the market went to the Paulding Ohio area and Roy Clutz the Oliver dealer in Paulding Ohio was pictured in the literature. Thanks in advance. J.

In the book I have say's production of Cockshutt SP-429 from 1954-62 had high under frame clearance to permit harvesting in soft fields and could be furnished with special equipment for virtually any seed crop. Price in 1962 was $7241. Shows auger on machine in picture. Greg

Greg is right. The 429 was the rice version of the 428. It had much larger tires - with rice grips instead of the knobby aircraft type on the 427 and 428. They were built before the 430 and 431, and finished up about 1962 or so before the new models came out. They are shown in the 1956 Farmer's Catalogue with the fall fair scene on the covers with the 427 and 428.
I hope that helps. When I worked for White, it was about 20 years later - the 9320 was the hope for the future as was the 9720 and a 9550 pull type of which one prototype was tested in Saskatchewan. Great year that was with White!!
John, I hope all is well with you.
