Was looking at gas Olivers this morning and spotted this 1800 not far from and not to bad of price, but it doesn't look like a MS carb. Maybe I am wrong, what do you guys think? Tom

Link didn't work for me, but 1850 gas tractors have Holley carbs, might be the same on 1800. More expensive to rebuild and much more complicated if thats what it is. Ross

The photo is not real clear but the carb LOOKS like a Marvel USX - the "correct" carburetor for the 1800. The USX is a 2-piece aluminum construction; it is kind of boxy looking (punch the link for photos.)

My experience with the USX - both on Deere xx20 and Oliver 17xx and 18xx gasers - is it's a finicky carburetor. It works reasonably well with fresh diaphragms and then properly adjusted. But keeping a USX working as it ages can be very frustrating.

What I see looks like a small Zenith Bendix cast iron carburetor such as one off of a 7700 deere combine. It could be a Holley carb as mentioned, but I have never seen one of those...

I used the snipping tool for a closer look. Kinda blurry though.

I did that too. But the carb and the whole mounting looks different than my 1850 with the aluminium MS carb, to which I think they are to be the same. Just looks like someone put on different carb, but that is not hard. On a side note I got my 1850 to run on a make shift vaporizing carburetor today.
