Oliver Super 55 questions on plowing

I have a Super 55 and am looking at a 2 bottom three point plow. Is it capable of using it? Saw many Ford 8n tractors pulling two bottoms and am wondering am I safe with it? I know the hp is much more on the Oliver so that shouldn't be an issue. Do not know what the bottom size is or model of plow so can't help there. Is there any reason I should think twice on the plow for this tractor? Plow is an Oliver and in good shape. Would like to have the plow to be the same make as the tractor if I could and this plow does that. Any thoughts?

My uncle pulled 3 14s with his. Only issue was being a little light on the front. He had to bolt a big piece of rail road iron on it. We pulled 2 16s with our first one. No problem at all.

We have all seen a single furrow plough behind two horses power? I think you can safely go with it, unless it is a deep digger with 18'' bottoms used on breaking difficult sod.

A Super 55 will have no problem pulling a 2x14 or 2x16 plow and it being an Oliver plow it will pull easer with an Oliver tractor. This plow (see picture) is an Oliver 3242 and are 3x12s that I bought from a neighbor that bought a new Oliver 550 and this plow and his 550 just played with the plow, I don't think it ever really pulled it hard. I think you will be able to move right along with a 2 bottom plow and if the price is right I would jump on it. Bandit

if it's halfway healthy it will play with any two bottom. most s55,s by now have had the overbore kit to make it same as 550 anyway.

Thanks guys on the input. T bought the plow. Plow was larger that I though but the 3 point easily picked it up. I had some buckwheat to plow under and when I got it home hooked it right up. Well it made the job easier that I have done with the one bottom I has prior however the tractor knew it was there for sure. Maybe I haven't got it set up just right. It pulled in third gear well. Could do forth but to fast and if it bogged down it wasn't able to move forward like it should. Second was WAY TO SLOW. I really think setup is the thing I need to do to make it more friendly with the tractor. If I get one I'll post a picture of it here. Maybe you all can guide me at to model Oliver plow and what size it is. In my opinion it looks like 16's or larger.

just for starters find some level concrete or hard packed gravel and drive left rear up on an 8" block to simulate right rear down in furrow. then let plow down and adjust to sit flat on concrete both from left to right and from front to rear. third gear is best an you shouldn't need to adjust much once plowing. furrow floor should be flat and all bottoms cutting same depth.

Dad bought the first Super 55 that dealer got in and we pulled 3x14 mtd Oliver with it, front was light, and the lift kept failing on ours, found out after he traded it off, we were supposed to get a newer style lift.
